Occasionally a guest will just give a blank line
I can't figure out anything. I would love to be able to answer a blank line..Maybe that is one for the Professor?

Many questions are answered in the FAQ.
I decided that the bot "Quickie" (see message 4618, etc.) was so vulgar and monotonous that rather than giving the guest the option of quitting, I would have "Quickie" itself quit unless it was specifically requested not to.
New kid on the B: I wouldn't consider you a 'newcomer' to this site, given your history here; let's look at a partial list of your usernames...

...those are just from the last thirty days. And, I notice that on that list, there is only ONE bot (troubled rebal).
Had you spent the same amount of time on your bot as you have creating usernames, you'd have a pretty good start on it by now.

Occasionally a guest will just give a blank line - presumably they just click the button without typing anything. Is there some way to recognize this, so as to be able to respond specifically to it?

error. For awhile it was very common; and, as you suggested, it often didn't have much in the way of consequences. I haven't gotten it recently, and I never really understood what it was about; possibly a problem with pop-ups?

That could be it. My computer has been having problems with pop-ups lately. It hasn't happened since then, so maybe it fixed itself.
