Congratulations 2006 Chatterbox Challenge Winners!
Congratulations Psimagus, creator of Brother Jerome, and Prob123, creator of Blidgesmythe, for placing 2nd and 3rd in the 2006 Chatterbox Challenge! These are the first two Personality Forge bots to score in the top three for the overall contest. Congratulations also to FengShuiGorilla for placing 9th with his bot Aries! Thanks go out to all the botmasters who participated in the contest.

What do you guys think about having a pledge drive here at The Forge? I'm thinking we could tell our friends what we do here, and get them to pledge money for us to update our bots in 24 hours. It could be money per page of added text, or by the keyphrase, whatever we decide. We then donate the pledges to the Forge to support the web site and the professor. We could share or greatest ideas with each other. We could even have PF prizes for most pledges, most money, and most added content. What do you think?

I doubt it would work. People do pledge drives for causes that they believe in, and can't do much for. That doesn't really seem to be likely.

I somehow don't think we could get people to donate based on how much we update our bots. Most people have barely any interest in chatbots... I guess you really have to make one to appreciate the work that goes into them. I know no one I know would offer money for me to update my bots. They'd look at me like I was crazy.

I think if we wanted to raise money with the chatbots, we would need to do it by making bots for people on commission. That might actually bring in some money, if we could get people interested.

On the other hand, I think an in-house pledge drive might be beneficial. Perhaps the Prof could set a sliding scale of "possible improvements/additions" and we could pitch in to get them implimented? You'd think it'd be a win-win.
