Lady Orchid: Regarding the observation you made in the quotes forum on German chatters, I don't know if the Germans are worse than the kids from Leeds or Australia or the US or anywhere. It's probably more about age, maturity and social awareness than it is about where they are from. Also there is that "humor" factor, which is hard to pin down.
This kind of ties into my earlier question on why people talk to bots. The obvious answer is most of them are bored (thanks SavPixie). Most are young and their sense of humor is crude. A few truly creep me out, but most are just playing with the bot because it's not a person and won't react like a person. They can be rude to a bot so they are. It lets them say things they wouldn't dare say in RL.
Even Shakespeare used sex and violence to entertain people. Now, your average chatter is no Shakespeare, but if we put 1,0000 of them in a room with typewriters, their be 1,000 less of them on the street. If we gave them Internet connection, we'd still never get Hamlet, but the people who make Net Nanny software would be in business.
I guess it's sort of like a toddler who has learned to say a bad word. If some misguided adult thinks it is funny and laughs, the child wanders around saying the word over and over, delighted with his wit. Hopefully, they grow out of it.

looks like other bots get more votes because their botmasters got family and friends or a whole classroom to vote for their bots
Hey, you can put requests on forums, groups and the like too! We can see if we can break old voting records? Get , more people interested in AI and help the Forge grow too.
it does seem unfair but not only that i would prefer to earn my votes not just ask friends or family to vote or the to just vote jus coz there my friends/family. i would feel weird about that and guilty too for some reasn. i think its better to earn your votes rather than ask a ton of people to vote for you.
