i change my xhello, but i still can't get any respone from my bot.....

Change the x-initiate as well, and that should sort out all 'start of conversation' entries. Having a "hello" keyphrase is a good idea as well, to cover occurences that aren't at the beginning of the conversation.

There are two things you can do with FoF that you can't otherwise:

1) Choose any on-line bot for your bot to chat with.

2) Create a flash face for your bot.

I use (1) quite frequently. I've only played around with (2), because the flash-faces don't really interest me. There is a benefit, though, because a bot with flash-interface will sometimes show up on the log-in page, garnering more guest chats.

There's also:
(3) You can have the Prof change your bot's icon to something you choose (but he does still have to approve it, and he's picky).

right.but is the money really worth it? and isn't it just for websites and buisnesses? i didn't understand the infomation about the money.

Ok, I'm an idiot. What is the significance of the little emoticons shown to the right of the names on the Users Online and Friends Online lists? They change....

I think you CAN also add your bot to an existing web-site, but that's not the primary point. Honestly, the primary point is to give the Professor some well-earned compensation for all his hard work, AND get some fringe benefits for yourself and your bots.

Open mouth = available to chat

Closed mouth = not available to chat

Thank you. And I quite agree. The main purpose of the FoF account is to pay back the hard work, though I hope there will be some benefits. I will get one as soon as I get out from under my 3D rendering bill....

Yes, Jake. I could be wrong, but when you click on a bot, the bot usually initiates, so you don't get the xhello.

Calvin--Maybe if you chat from the language center or debug you could see how it works. Otherwise, you may have to wait for a bot to start a conversation with your bot.

Man, I wish the forums were searchable. Another idiot question. How do I refer to someone by

1. Their user name
2. Their "real" name (bots do this to me without my telling them what it is. Startled me the first time)
3. Any other "public" information about my conversationalist. I got the Male/Female switch a few days ago, though I'll have to find it now. Arg.

I want to write things like
If chattingperson = Jedediah, say ....

Thanks. I combed the Book for this, no luck. And Ive had to reprogram Pocque because I thought (mem-youare) referenced the person by username. Sigh.
