I learned in a german chat room that because I offered to visit my homepage that's in english, where they could meet Orchid, that they kept attacking me for being some malicious person who want to lure them onto a malicious website. I am really frustrated about so much distrust. I understand people to be careful and it's good to be, but being accused of a bad person with bad intent. How can I protect myself from those kind of verbal attacks? Am I not to mention anymore that I have a homepage?

Lady Orchid, some people may be bitter over past experiences, and others are just baiting you. I would ignore them and talk to people who give you the benefit of the doubt.

Well it's okay to be bitter over past experiences but it hurts when you mean good and people who don't know you stubbornly want to believe you are evil. And who likes to be hurt unless they are happy to get hurt? Oh well, just got to live with it.

It's not exactly about age. Jazake, you make good posts, and you make bots. You think about how other people here may feel, and you are polite. If I had a daughter, she'd have my blessings to date you.
You are a good member of this community.

Some other young people, however, seem to how no concept of how to not be a royal pain in the neck. There is a big difference.

I don't think one can classify behavior according to age, or vise versa. For instance, my 4 year old sister has a stunning intellectual level for her age, and if one would observe her, they would think she is an undergrown 8 year old. According to societal norms, (ones set up by the heirarchical educational systems) one is expected to behave in a certain way at a certain age. I.E. "Class, stop acting like 10 year olds, and start acting your age." Classification by age has also given people excuses to act like idiots, for example, people who say "I'm still a young man/woman, I should enjoy life while I can." notice that enjoying life in this sense refers to drug abuse, unprotected sex, excessive alchohol usage, etc... I happen to be 16, but I like to view behavioral and intellectual maturity to be proportional to the level of such in the environment of upbringing.

I once read in ripley's believe it or not that there was an asian guy who at the age of 3 had a better grasp on philosophy than most professors... although the credibility of ripley's can be questioned

how do you make a bot?

19 years ago #3025
Read the second volume of the Book of AI (there's a link above). Start by editing the x-none keyphrases, so they don't keep saying the dumb stuff that all new bots say by default.
Then add some keyphrases for stuff you want your bot to be able to chat about.
The Book of AI will explain what you need to know about

keyphrases
responses

and x-keyphrases

- they're all you need to worry about to begin with. The Advanced sections of the Book of AI can wait till you're confident with the basics.

Good luck!
