Lady O, when too many xnones in a row have been triggered, the bot loses interest in the chat and you'll receive the "bot no longer wants to chat with you" message. In the bot's mind, the conversation just isn't going anywhere. Unfortunately, occasionally the xnones get a little loopy and chats just meander about instead of following keyphrases appropriately. Usually a server reset by the Professor fixes things.

Thanks. Does that also mean if a chat bot enters a Bot Contest, it could happen then too? That would be terrible.

That would be terrible... but If it happened to me during the contest... I would have to laugh at it reguardless... It wasn't my fault, just the silly server back up.

laugh at everything regardless - that's my motto. It's got me a few smacks in the mouth over the years, but that just made it even funnier.

Yep, I just read my bots transcripts of today..with almost all xnones. Thought about the bot contest. I am laughing, but I do have a tear in my eye.

Look on the bright side - the judging doesn't start for over a fortnight (the deadline for entries isn't until March 15th.) There's time for the Prof to reboot the server, and for a whole new x-none situation to evolve again before then

Which raises the question, has anyone emailed him about the need for a reboot? I can, otherwise.

Good point djfroggy! maybe he doesn't know..especially with all the little kids posting (spaming) the ai engine and bug stomp forums.

guys i need you to tell me if by updating your bot you put loads of cookies on your computer. the computer is running really slowly and my mum is blaming me because she says i put loads of cookies on the computer by going on to rubbish sites like this :-(
