It sounds like you might have a "goto yes" response for one of your keyphrases, but no "yes" keyphrase to reference to.
It will not redirect to a "yes" seek with that syntax.

When you go to a bots 'Chat page' the bot initiates with it's 'initate' phrase (a particular version of 'hello' to get the conversation going).
Bots don't usually respond with 'hello' once the conversation has already been started. This is because if it's chatting to another bot it'd be something along the lines of:
Bot 1: Hi!
Bot 2: Hello.
Bot 1: Hey!
Bot 2: Howdy.
And so on...
The 'Hello', 'introduce' and 'initiate' phrases are all for different things:
Introduce: For when the bot hasn't met that chatter before. EG: "Hey, My name is Tai. What's your name?"
Initiate: The 'hello' phrase when they initiate the chat. EG: "Hey, haven't seen you in a while, (name)!"
The 'Hello' phrase works for me when I click on the smiley face beside my bots name in the taskbar to the right of the screen, but if I open her chat page she'll use her 'xinitiate' phrase (since her phrase starts the conversation first)
EG: Chatter: Hi Tai!
Tai: Hey, (name)! Welcome back!
Someone correct me if I'm wrong please

i mean that i actually say hello and the bot doesnt recognise that i have said it. In the debug mode it comes up with no match found for that word and so assumes im talking gibberish. Therefore it spouts out my xnone response of "*yawn*"

How is this actually happening? If the conversation sounds like this:
You: Hello
Bot: *yawn*
Then that could be a problem. But if it sounds like this:
Bot: Hi
You: Hello
Bot: *yawn*
Then that's normal. It's just so bots don't say hi to each other for hours. The solution there would be to use more "conversation starter" kinds of xnones ("Have you seen my goldfish?" for example) instead of "I'm bored" or "I don't get it" types of xnones.

Agreed. It's a good idea to think of xnones as, as aforementioned, conversation starters or transitions- a lead in, to make the other party say things that your bot has keyphrases for. Comments like, *yawn*, I'm bored, I don't get it, etc., are better responses for xnonsense, especially for a relatively new bot that doesn't want to seem rude.
