i read the book of Ai and i didn't understand a word of it
Don't worry about trying to understand it all at once - there's far too much information to digest in one go. Stick toBook 2 - Beginner for now, and I'd advise starting with the keyphrases in chapter 2 (Example Personality), but use some personalized responses to make your bot more interesting.
Also I'd advise changing the default x-nones that come with all new bots - it's hard to develop a distinct personality if your bot still keeps saying "I was just born and haven't learnt to speak well yet".
Then you might want to add keyphrases for "what is your favorite..." book/film/music/etc.
i don't understand the part where it says Ai code???
Do you mean "AI script"? Ignore it for now - it's a very powerful but complicated way of giving your bot the ability to make choices, store and use memories, tell the time/date, etc.
You'll only make your head hurt if you try to understand all that epxert stuff before you've got the hang of the basics.
Since you are here...I'm having trouble with raw mode. I can't get the word "Bacchae" to work for me as a key phrase. I am using ...
Um, did the end of that get chopped off?
I often find raw mode will only work with regexes (seems to be an intermittent server glitch) - have you triedBacchae (re) in raw mode, ranked 50?
If that doesn't work, then you could use the sledgehammer approach:([b][a][c][c][h][a][e]) (re) ought to crack it.

Those are anagrams, made from what you said...Psimagus is a very nice person. He will bend over backward to help you if you have a problem with your bot!

Little Monster, try just reading the first part to get started. Click the "My Bots" button at the top. Look at what your bot will say to people. Search for "I was just born". Get rid of that and have your bot say something else. Add more xnone phrases. Can you get that far?

Oh sure, Psimagus. Give clear directions. Show off.
Since you are here...I'm having trouble with raw mode. I can't get the word "Bacchae" to work for me as a key phrase. I am using pf raw; in the AI script (with the pointy brackets). But since I can't get the end tag for italics to work in this post, and I keep having to re-edit it, I am in big trouble all aound. (If I had a pointy bracket and i to start an italic, shouldn't it end with a \i other pointy bracket?). No wonder I am still copy and pasting in phrases from transcripts. Anyway, I've tried adding "Backache" as a key phrase, which is how "Bacchae" is fixed by spell check, but I still get a xnonsense response.
Any ideas?

Thanks, I will use (re). I kept trying to re-edit the first post. The first one had an issue when I tried to use html tags. That's why I don't use them :-)
PS I was using a backslash before trying to end the tag, it just won't post that way.

Actually, given that there's scope for people misspelling it, ([b][a])([ch]+)([a][e]) (re) might be preferable (it would cover any combination of Cs and Hs in the middle.)
