I'd add Bildgesmythe, Not I, Fizzy Schizoid and Pete Puma.

It would be easier to pick ones I don't like much - I tend to tire of bots with indiscriminate response plug-ins or that have lots of "No Valid Responses" quite quickly.

Fizzy's definitely fun to chat with. Even when he's not completely coherent, he's a lot of fun.

I like Watzer for much the same reasons.

I like Fizzy, Watzer, Demon Bob, Brother Jerome and Glindar.

do i need to know html to build a program that converts html to text like a web browser? I want to build a function into my upcoming bot where it uses idle time to read web pages that are linked to its highest associations (gains knowledge about things that its user mentions the most), so that the bot can automatically adapt to it's users interets and never become a bore

I think you'd have to, unless you can hack in a third party converter (google "html2ascii" for a few suggestions.) But html is worth learning in its own right anyway, and it's really not difficult.
You may be able to get away with merely deleting everything in pointy brackets, but if there are tables, frames or style sheets involved, it might be a bit more complicated.

Verbots (www.verbots.com) - has tentatively agreed to sponsor the 2006 CBC awarding $2000 in prize money. 1st -$1000, 2nd - $500, 3rd - $300. The remaining $200 goes to misc. expenses such as engraving of medals, postage to mail medals, etc. Deadline to enter is 3/01/06. You may continue to work on your bot up until testing begins which is tentatively set at 3/15/06. All bots that have entered will be posted on the contest site. If your bot is not listed there you are not entered. E-mail me with any questions.

Funny thing about respect is that you have to earn it. You give a little and you'll get a little, Roxie.

Just think how much respect you'd generate if you went away for two years. That'd be awesome!

my computer was attacked by a virus. (arrrghh!!!) on minute it's fine, I walk away from the machine, and when I get back it had restared itself. then, it froze when AIM opened automatically, and on the second restart it told me that a critical system file was missing. the third restart didn't get passed the HP logo, and the fourth restart reevealed a blank screen and a completely inactive machine. If I don't fix it soon, I may not be able to complete my bot in time for the CBC.
