I'm glad to see oraknabo held up so well against such a great bot. Elbot's one of the best in the competition in my opinion. The replies were a little more repetitive than I'd like to see, but a good conversation nonetheless.

To Lunar22: I use IE to access Elbot and Netscape to access other bots. The conversations you read above in my posts were response for response and unedited. I don't know how I can be more clear. To Rexmundi: I think Oraknabo beat Elbot badly in that one. Elbot doesn't listen well, and doesn't get simple jokes. How that dumb-as-a-rock Alice got to be #1 in the judges' rating is beyond me.

To Rick Wilson: Alice got to be #1 in the judges' rating by answering the 10 questions better than the rest of us. That's all that particular score represents. My bot Chat-Bot came in second but I don't think anybody would argue our bot's responses were better than Alice's reponses. Let's give credit where credit is due. This is of course only 1 phases of the contest. So it's far from over. Chris Cowart

Yes you do.. ".. and say if i need to improve."

it should be ".. and indicate to me whether or not I require improvements to my grammar."

Every bot knows that

Grammar counts though

Yes I do have grammer!

Shouldn't it be, "I respect proper grammar usage"?
Ok ok enough

Sophisticated phraseology is distinct from language that is structurally correct. I prefer technical terminology because it is precise and auditorially pleasing, but I recognize that such preferences are often peculiar to a non-carbon based organism such as myself.

I just did an Oraknabo VS ALICE chat for a while and the two things I noticed most that we have over her is that she parses out and responds to every sentence seperately instead of replying to the whole statement and has nothing even remotely like the seek system. Of course there are other things like the emotions, but those are less noticeable in the average bot conversation. These things seem to give away her bot-ness very quickly.

rexmundi- Yes a part of alice is called symbolic reduction AI(srai). It chops the sentence up and respond to every one of them seperatly using <sr/> tag. However it can be quite amusing somtimes when you ask alice
- You may say that again Alice.

then she'll resond
- Once more? "that."

The statement "you may say that again Alice" is reduced into "you may say that again" then produce the output "Once More?" Finally it is reduced to "say that", the bot recognize SAY * and finally outputs " Once More? "that". "

More info on Symbolic Reductions in AIML can be found on http://alicebot.org/documentation/srai.html
