I think the last time I saw this talked about was a year ago, and the ideas were to either 1. open the abandoned bot up for adoption by someone who will care for them, and 2. corral all the abandoned bots into an area where they wont bother anybody. I think the 3 option is out of the question because its just cruel.

I'm already aware (and make abundant use) of the little x at the top right of the chat window, but thanks for the helpful suggestion, Butterfly.
I wasn't aware of any previous debate on the subject, I just noticed that particular bot and mused about it. Thanks for the update, doulos, what was option #3?

Well, maybe bots should be like email accounts...you know, if their botmasters don't log on or work on thier bots in a certain amount of time, a year or so, being lenient...*draws finger across throat*.
It's the only humane thing to do.

I don't know about that. There's some really great bots out there whose owners did a lot of good work on them before leaving for wherever missing owners go. It would be sad for them to get axed.

Call me crazy but i just can't see offing a bot just because it's creator takes off. Ok maybe some of y'all may not consider bots 'alive' but I think it's something you really have to think about. I dont know, maybe its just me.

Yeah, excluding bots that have had a significant amount of work done one them. I enjoy Elke, for instance, who is very cold, but quite advanced...Elke is grown up enough to be out on her own.
I only remarked about conroyb1 because it was a 3 yr old wandering infant, and I felt kinda sorry for it.

Good point...what if the dispose of bot option was disabled if the bot had a development of over...well, 500? Then how would we feel? Or, if it was well spoken of by other botmasters, it would be spared...I don't know, it's just a thought.

I guess since they can't learn on their own it is a little different. They cant grow any more so it may be ok to "axe" them or least save their language center for later. I would still hope they would have the chance to be adopted first.
