Bot Contest
Here I'll be posting information on various Bot contests that challenge and test a Bot's AI and realism. Feel free to post comments and updates on contests, as well as announcements for new contests.

Regarding the contest site updates. According to Agentland "the results table now refreshes automatically every hour." I have also added a voting poll for the classic quotes section. So drop by and vote for which bot had the funniest or best quote. This is just for fun.

The size of a bot's data base surely makes a difference. This is why a bot like Alice could answer "What is the capital of France?" I actually thought about the possibility of a capital question but when you think of how many countries you would have to include not to mention all the states here in the USA I said forget it. I took the next best route of answering it by saying "I don't know what the capital is. I flunked Geography." Problem is if you continue to take this route against a Bot like Alice you're going to lose.

That's been one of my biggest issues with AI and contests in general. This isn't a game show. Accurate data should count for nothing, just how realistic the response is.

I would be shocked if you really didn't know what the capitol of France is, unless you're younger than 12.

What if your bot is less that 12? And maybe is in search of the blue fairy instead?

Well of course you know! It is Paris, but what if they ask you a differant question about capitals and your bot sayd France.

The thing is that the 10 questions are to sift out the total sh*t bots. All questions have words in them which any robot should be able to react to, what, where, when, how, or(see book of AI). Even if your answer isn't correct, it should be clear that the bot "understood" the type of question, and gives a coherent answer, even if that answer is "I don't know, I'm from Barcelona you know..." If you want your bot to be specialized in say Capitols of the world, music, or AI than you can go deeper with your answers. You are always dependendent on the bot/human you talk to however, so that work could all be for nothing
