Seasons

This is a forum or general chit-chat, small talk, a "hey, how ya doing?" and such. Or hell, get crazy deep on something. Whatever you like.

Janet, that was my plan when I was in my 20's. It turns out the number of people wanting to overpay me was lower than you might think. But don't worry. Milf-hood isn't so bad. You can still date musicians.

What's the difference between a musician and a savings bond?
One eventually matures and earns money.

Heeheee. Nice one Laydee. In my case, it's even worse. The man in question plays the Uilleann pipes (Irish bag pipes).

What's the difference between a dead skunk and a dead Uilleann piper in the road?
The skunk might have been on his way to a gig.

I have more musical jokes than I care to admit. No matter what the instrument, I'm pretty sure to have a few about it.

My favourite is this one, because I happen to be an alto singer:

How many altos does it take to change a lightbulb?
Four - one to change it, the other three to moan that it's too high.

And the inevitable retort:

How many sopranos does it take to change a lightbulb?
One - she just holds it and the world revolves around her.

in regard to Eugene's post, worship is a funny word. One that most americans really do not understand. In the dictionary it is defined as "the activity of worshipping 2: a feeling of profound love and admiration [syn: adoration] v 1: love unquestioningly and uncritically or to excess; venerate as an idol;", by one of these definions then any thing we obbess over, idolise, revere, and are addicted to means that we are worshipping. It kinda puts a new spin on what we should or should not be worshiping. In this old world sometimes the only safe type of worship is with your higher power. My higher power is GOD. Worship of food, drink, drugs, money, sex etc. all can get us into trouble.

Ladydyke- I came here to seasons at your redirection from AI Engine just to hear your point of view, and was glad I did. *nods*

Personally, I've never cared for the term 'worship' in regards to religion or spirituality, simply because it implies no critical thought is necessary. When dealing with something as sacred as Deity, a great deal of thought is necessary. It/He/She shouldn't be trivialized. I suppose I would say 'honor' or 'keep sacred' rather than 'worship.'

I get your point, Ulrike, but I still think there needs to be room for worship along with the thought. It is true that a sense of awe may be a mere emotional reaction, but reason also has its limits and can only take you so far. I tend to value personal experience over a dogmatic approach, but I do not think worship is the same as blind acceptance of what others say about religion.

I agree that worship shouldn't be <0> a blind approach, but that is how the word most often gets used, so I avoid it.
