Just seen in the Alice site that there are four finalists for the Loebner contest: Steven Watkins, Rollo Carpenter,
Richard Wallace and John Precedo. Richard Wallace is the botmaster of Alice, Rollo Carpenter is the botmaster of Jabberwacky, but I never heard of the other two. Anybody knows about them?

Nope. Probably just some random people who made bots that can type like that, and one of them will take a bronze.

I really don't think the Loebners are the best contest anymore.. at least not to the point of being in the Guinness Book of World Records like they were in '98..

Loebner doesn't really have a bronze. The best bot is supposed to win the bronze! Silver is reserved for the first bot that passes the Turing test (according to Loebner's own criteria, see his site for details), and gold for a video bot.

I've entered Twinky2100 in the chatterbox comp :o. Now i'm scared. Should i get some kind of conformation email, or just check the list to see if she's on?

From memory there usually is a confirming email.
I just checked the list and Twinky isn't on it. There's no great rush though, since the comp isn't until next year. I'd wait a couple of days and if the site isn't updated with Twinky's name then send a polite email or try the entry process again.

I didn't get a confirmation email. But Imma is on the list now, so I assumed I'm entered.

Dear Friends:

Can someone tell me (or tell me where to go to find out) what the process and criteria are for the Chatterbox context? For example, do they just chat with each bot, or do they look at the program? Do they chat for a long time? Are there any particular bot virtues that they are known to look for?

My understanding is that they ask a set of ten questions to each bot. That's about all I know so far.
