Hi, okay I've redone the CBC contest site. Unless your bot has won a medal or was a finalist you will have to re-enter.

Although the contest isn't till next year it might be a good idea to enter asap. One it helps me in not having to enter a lot of bots at the last minute and two since the site is maintained year round it will generate some extra traffic and exposure for your bot.

Chris, the CBC site is looking very good. Will the categories and judging be the same as this past year, or might they change?

I just got back from the Chatterbox site, where I read the rules and entered for next year. I'm hoping that the rule that "only English-speaking bots are allowed" means that all bots must compete in English, and not that they will be disqualified if they happen to know a few foreign phrases...hopefully anything that Julie said in a language other than English would be interpreted as intentional blab, and not hurt her chances any more than a meaningless xnone response would.

How about saving the entry material so you won't have to have it all retyped, just copy the old stuff in again?

ezzer, I think all of the more advanced bots know at least a few foreign words and phrases. Nobody minds that. I think they just want to make sure that they don't have to judge a bot that only speaks Gujarati if the judges themselves don't know Gujarati.

and don't forget the spell check.

Righto, or to make sure they don't give an unfair advantage to a bot that says something funny in a foreign language that a judge happens to know, for that matter..that's pretty much what I thought, I just wanted to make sure before I gave Julie any more French lessons.
