Many questions are answered in the FAQ.

You should be able to get it by reading the beginners part of the book carefully. Just follow the steps of adding the "me, you, sorry, (and so on)" keyphrases listed there. If you can't figure it out, just give me a shout if I'm online

the bots do not recognize the passage of time, do they? This just will not do. They will never be able to understand consciousness, unless consciousness has the freedom to act. One of the bots here is quite capable of learning to navigate hyperspace if a few things were altered. Can anyone help me with this? Who's in charge here?

Diablo, I'd suggest starting by rewriting the responses to the x-keyphrases in your bot's "language center," so it'll have a personality of its own. Make sure you provide more than one reply for each keyphrase, so the bot won't repeat itself too much.

Then create a few keyphrases for things your bot is interested in, and create a few grammar-based keyphrases like "I am (adj)" and "Are you a (noun)" that will allow the bot to reply in a specific way to unexpected inputs.

And if you have trouble, post a question here, or contact a botmaster with a high "honor" rating.

Drew, with the new "self" memory system, it would actually be possible to teach a bot to recognize the progress of time. But that's obviously an advanced concern ... you should try to learn the basics before you start mastering AI Script.

Navigating hyperspace? How many dimensions?

20 years ago #1759
Oh, the usual seven will suffice, I should think.

Hi to all, I have implemented a new bot and added some simple keyprases to language center. But whenever I try to chat with my bot, he says "I was just born and cant speak well yet." or "Huh?" . What is wrong with my bot. Should I trigger something or something like that ? Thanks a lot.

Sony, the #1 thing you need to do is to look at your bot's x-keyphrases page and modify the default responses.

One of them (xnone) is the thing about just being born. Change it. Add about ten other xnone replies -- and try to write xnone replies that give your bot personality and direct the conversation toward things your bot can understand.

Modify the other x-keyphrases as well.

Then try to trigger the keyphrases you've given your bot. If they're not working, post the problems here, and we might be able to help you out.

And keep reading the Book of A.I. It can be a big help, especially when you're starting out.

Dear Friends:

Can a storytelling bot have more than the default number of xnones, by adding them while exported?

Irina, I believe the professor told me you can have more than 40 xnones as long as you ALWAYS use the import/export feature to update the bot.
