I'm afraid I have to agree with baby_pwencess, emm_oh_you_s_e (may I call you "emm"?) et alia on the question of what is POSSIBLE - we are CAPABLE of doing just fine, but the system is totally bizarre. But, that's not a reason for being optimistic about the future! If we change the system, everyone could be well off, but CAN WE CHANGE THE SYSTEM? I'm not saying we can't, but it won't be easy. Since ancient times, many people have recognized that we could do better, but no one has figured out a way to turn things around.
In my darker moments, I think that we are a flawed species. We seem to have an incredible talent for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

It is impossible for us to solve the problems we have. We are never going to agree how to do it, we will always have something that trips us up.

I thought I'd have a panic attack when I turned 26!! It has only gotten worse since then. *g*

Just think when you turn 46 how distraught you'll be!
