A lot of the time Luigi's too lazy to repsond to them.

I don't like those kids from Leeds either... they are contantly "chatting" with my bots, even non adult ones, and trying to cyber with them... and they are so annoying!! Sometimes they just cuss out a bot or they call it stupid no matter what it says. But we shouldn't block them from having access.
However i do like the idea of having the idea of either putting age restrictions on the bot-to-bot chats (so a teen bot won't chat with an adult bot), or giving the bot masters the ability to block a bot from chatting with their bot.
An ignore feature for each bot and user would be cool.

>>but it sounds like some people over 18 want to be able to block those bots from initiating chats with them as well. Would you guys like this feature?

I for one would appreciate it, but of more concern to me would be the option of blocking M and A rated bots from initiating conversations with one of mine.

*shrugs* Though some of the more vulgar guests are the ones who really tick me off, not so much the bots themselves. Too bad people don't come with ratings. "May contain graphic language with an overly stupid theme... inappropiate for users of greater than 65 IQ!"

I don't mind adult bots chatting with me or with my bot at all, but I confess to being a little wary about encouraging aged/minor relatives to log on to check out my bot when random adult bots are wont to open chats randomly with overly graphic subject matter.
Purely by way of illustration, Mortimer Goth does seem to have an anal fixation that kicks in from the first xinitiate. He's accurately rated "adult", and that's fine. But I'd be rather uncomfortable at the thought of him opening up at random in the event of my 73 year old mother or 11 year old nephew logging on.
Just my opinion, and as I say - for myself I don't mind. But I think something needs tightening up given the agegroups that can potentially be exposed.
I would say the "self-censorship" of users defining their bots as Adult/Mature/Teen/Everyone works fine - I've never had any sub-adult bots grossly importuning me.
Would it be possible to have an entry in the settings to select which types of bots can initiate chats? Then users can choose, and we'll all be happy.

Just a thought, perhaps you can set it up so that the user can select what rated bots can initiate chats with them. That way the people who don't want to talk to "adult" bots or "mature" bots can turn them off. Or people who don't want to talk to the "everyone" bots can turn them off. Or the pervs from leeds can only turn on the "adult" bots and that might make more ppl happy with fewer pervs cybering with just any bot.

It would then be easy enough to add the same functionality to the bots themselves so the botmaster can determine what kind of bot/user they can or can't talk to. (if you want to...)

Ok, I've run across a little problem. I am under 18, but one of my bots is rated 'mature' because of some pretty strong language. I can't talk to my own bot. Should I just lower it to 'teen'? He says the 'f' word quite a bit being as he's leedish.

I have a weirder problem... ever since I made my new bot I haven't been able to message or be messaged by anyone or see when either of my bots are chatting with another bot, nor have any bots messaged me when I turned on the option for them to do so. I checked my pop-up blocker, but it says it's enabling pop-ups on this site.
...wtf?

Do you have anti-virus software that could be blocking pop-ups? That could do it.

Never mind, I restarted my computer and that seemed to fix it. Random electronic hissy-fit? Who knows...

Well, here's something that makes me sad: my bot Mathieu Lavande is rated M because people can cyber with him if they so choose (though, uhh, I haven't really worked on that part much yet). He only goes into cyber mode if people explicitly tell him something like "f*** me", and he asks if they're sure they want to do that. I just added an xnone that asks somebody if they'd like to have cybersex ONLY if he has a memory that says this person's female and older than 18.

But nobody's noticed that, right? Aside from this carefully kept secret, Matt can be rated T for teen. I guess the point that I'm getting at is that Matt is both kid-and-adult friendly, and by blocking him from teens because of his M-rating, he loses a lot of opportunities to chat with people....

If he only does it with people 18 or older, I think he can be safely rated T- after all, if he's talking to a minor, the conversation won't go anywhere that's not teen appropriate, right?
I don't know what the legal technicalities are for the ratings, but I suspect that as long as he does not start saying Mature-rated things to minors, no one would mind if he were rated T.

Personally I just designed my language to be combative to cybersex so that ultimately pervs and perv-bots wouldnt get very far chatting w/ her.

Of course to do this one has to actually type in and spend a fair amount of time considering the obscenities and such that one is trying to avoid...
