I was lucky that Little Mu sidestepped the favorite brand of computer question. She has a number of responses that would have indicated she liked the brand "brand" (as many did), but happened to answer "I never met a brand of computer I didn't like." Acceptable, I guess.

One of them said something like: I don't care which brand as long as it is a brand! (which could be read as, as long as it is a brand name...)

Any brand of computer, as long as it's a brand.
(Kind of like Henry Ford's statement about color choice in his cars: "You can have any color you want, as long as it's black.")

I really wish there was a way to personalize our bots prefrences in movies, books etc. Xfav's suck in that area.

what you can do is rewrite the sentence, so that the answer reflects more of the personality, even though it might not be the real favorite... furthermore, it is very difficult to predict how a human would ask for your preferences, and I for one am happy that the bots do come up with answers, even though you might not agree always.
Maybe you can put the real "loves" of your bot in general key phrases like Music, Movies etc, and hope that those phrases get triggered.

hmm Prof? New Feature Idea
a list of a bot's favorite things, IE
Computer -> AMD
Movie -> The Matrix
etc
and it would check the list before coming up with something from wordnet

I second Shady's idea! I think a lot of people would appreciate such a feature.

That sounds like a good idea, and one that would be the most effective without botmasters having to enter millions of keyphrases. It could be updated over time too as people came up with new categories for which they'd like to be able to express a preference in.
Of course it sounds like a lot more work for the Prof.
