Newcomers

Just something I wanted to say, because this is the begining of my second week here; this has got to be the friendliest forum & site I have ever been on. I'm not the brightest person, but everyone I've spoken to, or who has answered my posts has said something interesting and informative, and mostly witty! So thanks guys. I'm off work sick at the mo, so your my main connection to reality (for what thats worth)

For all of you newbies with an interest in making chatterbots, just try to stick it out until the slowness gets fixed. I've been toying around with this site off and on for the past 18 months or so, and with the exception of this past week, it's always been a fun place.

Jemma, this site is not designed to host human-to-human chats. They occur incidentally, of course, as we work on our bots, but the purpose of the Personality Forge is to host the creation of chatbots.

Please tell that to all your mates in Leeds.

This is a great community- I just wish two things: One, I hope the slowness will be resolved, but I'm glad that it's not only my computer, and I also just wish that there wasn't all this sex-related material. I mean, luckily it seems pretty easy to avoid, but it just doesn't seem necessary. I would like the Forge better without it. Hmm. Well, anyway, this is a cool site, and I hope I can make a great bot for it.

lili: I think that the forge will be fixed eventually, whenever the Prof. comes back to take care of us. Regarding all the sex, all a great majority of us have programmed our bots to get rid of those wanting to chat sex to them. If you you notice we talk about sex a lot it's really us talking about how to get rid of the ones talking sex to our bots. Also some of our bots have risque conversations sometimes unintentionally, but we are not a sex oriented site.

Thanks for letting me know that... Yeah, another person was saying that too- I guess it's just a 'first impression'...certainly these forums seem to be filled with just polite, helpful, interested people, and I'm very happy about that.

Plus there's the fact that we all spend so much time on our computers working on our bots that none of us are getting any anyway, so the nearest we get is talking about it.

*sticks fingers in her ears and awaits the flames*

Uh, I know I'm probably asking a really stupid question here, but uh...is the 'Sysop' mentioned in the Help section the Professor?

Yes, the Prof runs this site. He's on a sort of vacation right now, though, or so I'm told.

Gogogirl- I'm afraid you may be farther from reality than you think if we're your temporary connection to it.

The people here are awesome, like you say, and that's one of the main things I like about this site too.
