P.S.
It worked well in debug mode and during chats it works at least sometimes.

Bots are supposed to ignore all "hello" statements (after the first one) from a given user for something like ninety minutes. This is to prevent bots getting in a greeting-loop when they talk to each other.

You are right Isaacc. I just tried again and a xnone response comes up although I'm sure it worked when I added the keyphrases. (You can only trap some odd ways to say hello)

turtlequeen2, try adding more keyphrases based on what people are likely to say to curlyred in a conversation. When a bot has to go to xnone responses too often, she gets tired of chatting and doesn't want to talk anymore.
I just went and chatted a bit with her; she's very pleasant and I liked her question about the planets. Maybe she would like to talk about astronomy more!

Sloth: First you'll want to get into Sloth Bot's language center and change the "x" keyphrases -- you can read about them in the Book of A. I.
Most important, at this stage, is to give your bot several "xnone" replies, because those are going to come up a lot until you get more programming in the language center.
Once you've given your bot a little "personality" by altering the default replies (and adding to them), start imagining keyphrases that will match things people might say to your bot, and writing replies to those.
You'll get the hang of it.

I guess the advice I'd give to anyone who's starting on their first bot would be to steal some keyphrases and responses from the Book of AI and then chat with your bot to see how it works, using those keyphrases. Then as you start to get the hang of it, you should replace the Book of AI examples with your own keyphrases and responses. Preferably before your bot talks chats with anyone else.
