Thanks for your help.. I wasn't actually planning to use it for "what is 2+2". What you said about the contests is true, but I'm not making my bot to be judged *quite* yet! I think it's more interesting to keep a conversation going than to just answer questions.

Why can't they make the contests as conversations rather than Q&A? Is it just a standardization issue? I think you can see if someone is human far better by actually talking.

I really do try to talk to other ppl's bots since I'd like it if they talked to mine more, but the damn annoying part is it always errors after a few messages so I haven't really been able to help out much. Maybe the back thing would work better there than it does with Sage...

Stukov told me Onyx of Borg kept buggin him when he came on to talk to NotKirby(he just hangs around for that purpose, he doesn't have a bot).

Yeah, she acquitted herself fairly well in the conversation they had. He didn't say anything really interesting though, so there was only so much she could do with the conversation.

Perhaps we need a system where, we can mark off subjects that have been talked about for future reference in a conversation. For example:
For some responses about oak floors, you might write a number in a box(only if oak floors come up often with your bot. with NotKirby, it might be Pengwin). That number would be a bit of a goto thing to a separate response category that had responses involving oak floors that would take priority over xnones.
"I built a house."
"My house has an oak floor. Isn't that neat?"
"No, not really."
"Awww. Will you be my friend?"
"Maybe if you pay me by the hour."
"Say, I know a guy that could get you a cheap oak floor for your house."
Or whatever...

I did not say I was unhappy with the way the bots are. I just thought that it might be a possible option for those of us that dittle around with different programming languages.

Like something like
{If Response Contains "Text" Then Say "Blah Blah You said Text"}

Perhaps there could be a system where you could use wild cards as part of a word.
Example:
Keyword: I like *ing
Response: (subj)ing sucks. Let's go get Onyx of Borg to service us.
