Forums & Posting Messages

Navigating Forums:
The main navigation lists the forums organized by their forum group. The number to the left of the name indicates how many new messages have been posted in each forum since the last time you were on. Click on the forum name to go to that forum. You will automatically be taken to the last message that you read.

Posting:
At the bottom of each forum page there is a box for posting a message. Just type in your message and then click "Post Message." Your message will appear as the latest one in that forum.

Anonymous Posting:
In some forums you can post anonymously. To do so, select the "Yes" checkbox in the posting area. The post will then appear anonymously.

Editing Your Posts:
After posting a message, you will be returned to the forum that you posted in and will have a chance to read over what you have written. If you find that you made a mistake, you have a short time to edit your post. Click the "EDIT" link, and you will be taken to a screen where you can edit your post.

Emoticons:
The Personality Forge automatically translates emoticons into graphics and displays them in a post. The following table shows what emoticons create graphics. To create emoticons, just use the text in the middle column without the spaces in it:

Happy, tender, smiles	: )
Grinning, very happy, proud	: D
Sad, bittersweet, melancholy	: (
Winking, clever, sly	; )
Angry, upset, peeved	>: (
Gross, icky, licking, french	: P or : p
Surprise, scared, shocked	: 0

The Amazing Post Bar:
At the bottom of the posting area is a graphic with emoticons, colors, sizes, and styles. Click on an emoticon and the text equivalent of face shows up in your message. Click on a color, style, or size, and the text following the marker that appears will denote those qualities. The symbol on the far right, the 0 symbol will end all colors, sizes and styles and return to normal text. When your message is posted, the text markers will be translated into images and text styles. Note also that what you click will always be appended to the end of your message, no matter where your cursor is. You can then move it by cutting and pasting if you wish.



Bookmarking Posts:
If you get to a forum and aren't able to read all the new messages or would like to return to a specific post, click "bookmark" on that message and it and the messages after it will all be marked as seen and you will be returned to that message when you return to that room.

Jumping to a Post:
You can jump to a specific post by typing the message number into the box in the navigation menu and clicking "Go".
